Construction work includes inherent risks, which is why safety is such an important component of properly running a company. The industry consistently tops the Occupational Health and Safety Administration’s rankings for workplace accidents, recording about one of every five worker deaths each year. According to OSHA’s reports, there were 976 construction fatalities in 2020, and construction laborers ranked fifth highest in worker injuries with about 250 incidents per 10,000 workers.It is common for construction workers to engage in activities that expose them to serious hazards, such as falling from rooftops, unguarded machinery, being struck by heavy construction equipment, electrocutions, silica dust, and asbestos.
